It's time to volunteer!
 We need your help!!

The volunteer links are ready and, depending on your interests, there are a lot of different opportunities that might be just right for you!  This is all about keeping things fun for the kids and, in order for that happen, we need a lot of volunteers at every event.
With that in mind, each family needs to sign up for at least 4-5 volunteer positions this summer.  The links are posted below along with a brief description of each.  Please take a moment to check things out and please sign up.  You can sign up for a bunch of different jobs or stick to the same thing all summer.  It's your choice, but we do ask that you go ahead and sign up for your 4-5 positions as soon as you can so we know where we'll need to fill in the holes.  All these fun events cannot happen without these positions being filled so your cooperation with this is greatly appreciated!!!

We'll be doing our volunteer appreciation drawings again this year as a little token of our appreciation.  We have a list of those who worked at the time trials last week and those working at this Saturday's meet will also be included in the drawing.  This season's first winner will be announced next week!

Job Sign-Up Link Job Description
Card Runners http://www.signupgenius.com/go/card11
This job is on the pool deck and, if you're looking to get a little exercise, this is the job for you!  Just let us know if you've not done this before and we'll certainly explain everything and/or walk you thru it.  There are two parts to this job:
1. 8&U - You will be responsible for getting cards from the 8 and under swimmers at the clerk of course to the timers (we'll walk you thru this the first few times!).
2. Over 9 - You'll move cards from the timers and DQ slips from the referee to the computer operator (via the bucket dangling from the community center above).
Clerk of Course www.SignUpGenius.com/go/clerk1 Help in the Clerk of Course area is needed for both home and away meets.  We usually only need one volunteer at the away meets to help assist in the opposing team's clerk of course area, but more people are needed at the home meets when we're responsible for this area.  This job requires a little patience in working with the kids to make sure they get to the right place at the right time to swim their event.  No experience is required; we just need help.
Heat Winner Ribbons www.SignUpGenius.com/go/heat4

If you like to make kids smile, this job is for you!  We pass out heat winner ribbons for each heat of the night during our Wednesday meets at the Commons.  We'll make sure you've got a big stack of ribbons at the beginning of the meet and point you in the right direction!

Pool Set Up www.SignUpGenius.com/go/pool61 Help is needed setting up the pool deck before home meets at the Commons.  The pool is set up on Friday nights before Saturday meets and on Wednesday afternoons for Wednesday night meets.  Take down of the pool deck commences at the conclusion of each meet.
Ribbons/Timecards http://www.signupgenius.com/go/ribbons1 This volunteer position is often in an air conditioned or shaded area so many find this appealing for that reason!  This job has many "busy work" tasks, including labeling and sorting timecards before the meet begins, posting results, labeling ribbons, etc...  There will always be at least one other person with experience working with you so you'll have someone around to ask for help.  We need volunteers to do this at both home and away meets.
Snack Bar

http://www.signupgenius.com/go/summer461

We run a snack bar at every home meet and need people to help take orders and collect money under the canopy.  This volunteer position offers time in the shade and you can always step away to watch your child swim their events.
Social Events www.SignUpGenius.com/go/social35 We have a lot of social events during the swim season that we need help with.  Right now the volunteer opportunities include helping with the Fun Fridays breakfasts and the end of season party (serving food to our hungry swimmers and helping with set up/clean up).  We'll add more to the list as needed.
Timers

www.SignUpGenius.com/go/timers20

No experience necessary!!!  We need 9-18 timers for every meet, whether we're home or away.  Please don't worry if you've not timed before; it's easy!  You only have to push two buttons on the stop watch; one when the race starts and when the swimmer in your lane touches the wall and the second to clear the watch for the next race.  There are three timers per lane and a head timer with a watch in case you make a mistake or miss getting someone's time, so it's super easy!  The head timer is also there to answer any questions you might have.
