Spirit Wear Available!	Looking for some cool threads for the 2013 swim season? Check out the 2013 Spirit Wear Information, Sizing Chart and Order Form. Starting Wednesday, May 28th completed Order Forms with checks made out to *BCSC* for the full purchase amount can be submitted to Lisa Ide either via the Ide family folder at practices or by handing directly to Lisa. Completed forms with payments will be sent to our Spirit Wear vendor for fulfillment following practices on May 31 and again on June 7.
Tues., 28 May:	New swimmer Evaluation Day; Landings Pool , 4:00pm-6:30pm (you can come any time during that time window ~ evaluation will take 5-20 mins depending on wait time). ALL swimmers new to the BCSC (age 10 & younger), including any siblings that have not participated before, must attend the new swimmer Evaluation Day to ensure they meet certain performance criteria. Wed., 29 May:	First Day of Practice; Landings Pool , practice time depends on age. Visit Calendar & Practice Schedule for specific times.
Thu., 30 May:	Volunteer Fee Check Collection Begins; at swim practice.
Fri., 31 May:	Team Suit fitting & purchase: Swim suit fitting/purchase from Suit Up during practice, 4-6:30 pm. NOTE: Suits can be purchased anytime directly from Suit Up (University Mall). Click HERE for team suit information.
Sat., 1 June:	Burke Centre Swim Club Registration closes.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES! As we prepare for another great season of swimming, there are a few important volunteer positions that need to be filled. All of these volunteer positions fulfill the family volunteer requirement. If interested in any of these positions, contact Penguin President Jim Eckloff.
URGENT NEED SNACK BAR: We need 2-3 individuals to take over the management of the snack bar for our home meets this summer. We all know there are plenty of kids as motivated by pizza as ribbons, so this is a must-fill position.
URGENT NEED SWIM-A-THON: If you would like to help out with the team's contribution to local charitable organizations, consider helping out as a Swim-A-Thon coordinator or Silent Auction Volunteer.
OFFICIALS: Each meet requires a number of certified stroke & turn officials, as well as more experienced starters & referees. Many of our seasoned officials are moving on soon so we need a number of parents with younger swimmers to get involve and consider helping us in this arena. Training is provided by the league and one of the main sessions is conducted right at our own pool in early June. If you want a front row seat, please consider this valuable opportunity to help out. NOTE: Officials can complete their team volunteer requirement by working at some (though not all) of our summer meets.

*REMINDER TO 2013 PENGUIN COACHES & INTERNS:* Penguin coaches (required) & coach interns (recommended) must be Lifeguard & CPR/AED certified. Classes are offered year-round through the RECenters & other local facilities. Qualifications differ so check HERE (list of acceptable classes are on pages 2 & 3) to see which courses are acceptable. NOTE: American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard certifications are good for 3 years; & beginning in 2011, ARC CPR certifications are good for 2 years!
